ugly poem prompt- the unattractive stanza

there once was a poem so gross at sight
that it made many puke of fright
but people just didnt understand
it was great and not at all bland
people were shocked at its nasty appearance
like most clothes sitting in clearance
but i discovered its true meaning
and didnt know why people were demeaning
and i figured out that it was ugly
so i fixed it and looked at it smugly
it once was gross like courtney love
but now its something everyones proud of

microfiction-the scent of lavender filled the room

The scent of lavender filled the room and as I turned around I saw John Stamos standing in the door way. I had been a huge fan of his since he was on Full House. He asked me "Would you like to come on the adventure of a life time?". I answer by saying "as long as Danny Tanner doesn't come with us." So that night i packed a backpack full of only necessities to go on the trip. When we were riding on John's motorcycle i asked him where we were going and he answered mysteriously "you'll see". I was partially nervous but at the same time excited. We soon arrived at the Boating docks where we boarded a 60 foot long sailboat with 4 other men. They tell me we are going to the Corn Islands 43 miles off the coast of Nicaragua. It will be a long voyage.

Many months go by and we finally arrive at the Little Corn Island. It was a very difficult journey and tragic at one  point when Fellow shipmate Reggie was washed overboard in a storm. We kept trekking and have finally arrived at our destination. Landing on its northeast side we pulled our boat on shore and anchored down. Our first act of business was to scope out the island from the highest point. After that was done we looked upon building shelter. John and I searched around for good building supplies. Within the day we constructed a small hut big enough for the 5 men.

The next day we went to explore the island and looked for signs of inhabited areas. We soon found out that there was a hotel on the island and there were roads. So we stayed in the hotel for a few weeks and got jobs to make money. As all of us pooled our money together we built a parasailing business on the island and enjoyed our lives there on.

This is about 65 people being taken from a punk-rock concert and held at a detention center in Indonesia. The punks were angry and didn't understand why they were held there. The police shaved there heads, took their piercings, took their clothes and gave them disciplinary training for 10 days. "We didn't hurt anyone. This is how we've chosen to express ourselves. Why are they treating us like criminals?" says punk Fazuan. I relate this to the poem "The Injustices of the World". "We’ve all at times,Have felt that we’ve been wronged, Victims of crimes," I think this can relate to the feelings of the Punk-rock teens. They were judge and unfairly punished for no reason. It makes me grateful that our Government is so secular and not as morally strict.

small poetry prompt

Sometimes small things make the difference
like a tic tac when your breath is an interference
or a person that comments on your nice appearance
These things can make any situation better
like when you realize there's a football doubleheader
or when your grandma makes you a Christmas sweater
it could be a good deed or small useful object
like when you are friendly to a reject
or when your homie protects your neck
Small things make a difference in everyone's day

this article uses a lot of figurative language. it tells about the new movie Anonymous. it is about finding the real author of all the plays credited to William Shakespeare. Describing actor Rhys Ifans as the older, broodier, despairingly meticulous Edward. The words linked to form a more descriptive sentence to show all around characteristics..

http://www.timesunion.com/default/article/University-a-valued-neighbor-2297888.php

This article was about public disturbances caused by students of Fairfield university. The author talked about how despite the students being young they should act mature because they are out in the real world. As shown in this quote "college students do not get a pass on socially acceptable behavior simply by virtue of being young"."Sacred Heart University's Roncalli Hall dormitory is not going anywhere. Residents of Bridgeport's North End have the right to a quiet neighborhood." I think this is absurd because what do you honestly expect if you live right next to college campus. They will obviously be partying and staying up late.

prompt # 1

i disagree on the statement because i am a football player and its easy to be a cheerleader. Its a lot harder to be a football player and succeed then just be a cheerleader. I could take anyone i know and with practice make a good squad. Cheerleaders give themselves to much credit but in some places football is glorified to a ridiculous amount. But cheerleading is a joke.

i want to write about #91

in elementary school every day after school me and a bunch of my friend would go to the park and play pick up games of football. I had the best memories during these times and i will remember it all my life. We had a lot of kids that we would always play with. I would race home and do homework as fast as i possibly could in order to go play football. We would play tackle because we are not queers and it was a great old time. The games would get very intense and exciting. These days sometimes we will play a little game of football going now and then but not as much as we used to. Whenever we do play it brings up old memories.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step

this quote puts a lot of big hopes and dreams in perspective. It goes to show that if you have big plans and want to do great things than you can by starting out small. This is a good example of Steve Jobs career he started in his parents garage which was very small and continued to work and hard and became successful. The journey is taken step by step and every great journey must be initiated by that first step.

Halloween

"What is that AWFUL smell?" I asked. Then I saw the cauldron full of bubbling purple liquid ...
It was Flava Flav and he was brewin up some purple drank. He did not have on a costume but he always looks like a gremlin so he startled me. When i asked him what he was doing in my basement he answered with the usual "FLAVA FLAAAV!!". So i asked him if he was going trick or treating with me and he answered "YEAHHH BOI" So we went out getting candy and such, stirring up a ruckus when all of a sudden out of nowhere appears the ghost of Rick James. He floated over to us and I reached out to shake his hand because this man is a legend. But when i went to grasp his hand i slipped right through his ghostly figure. It was embarrassing but we all went on to collect candy. Our ending total of loot was 14lbs and 6oz of candy. We sold it to large greedy children and used the money to open a record shop. Even though record shops have become obsolete we continued to make money due to the people that owned it. Rick James also summoned Patrick Swayze  from the dead to be the cashier. We later came to be known as the Fearless Four.

Resumption-to begin again

illicit-unlawful, forbidden by rule

abstinence-the act of refraining from a desire

lurid-presented in shocking or sensational terms

tumultuous-excited, confused, loud or disorderly

the author says "a resumption of heavy drinking killed the singer". Resumption is a good word that describes Amy Winehouses drinking. She stopped for a little while than would start drinking again and it was not a surprise that she died to me. "she stopped the use of illicit drugs in 2008" but started drinking heavily and started fighting her addiction.  She was "abstinent" from drug use at various points in her life but couldn't completely shove it away.  "praise for her singing was often eclipsed by lurid headlines about her destructive relationships and erratic behavior"
She was constantly attacked by the media and the public about her problems. "Winehouse herself turned to her tumultuous life and personal demons for music materials"
Her song Rehab was a good example of this and gives a good image of how she played off her image.

Green eggs and Ham by Dr. Suess

I remember reading this and getting read this many times when i was a wee little child. It is a classic story that contains rhyme and much other silly contents. I don't know why anyone would eat green eggs and ham but its creative. I also would like to know what kind of creature that thing is on the cover because its awfully furry but is wearing a top hat. It angers me slightly that people can create such easy books that are not hard at all to make and dont make sense at all but make a ton of money of them. There is about 4 words per page but they can make tremendous profit off of such a goofy book.

4 their sports programs are decent and there lacrosse program seems good
5 they have a nice campus

1 I don't think that it would be ideal for my social life
2 its billing system and payment methods are very good
3 Ithica is a boring city

I beleive this is located in a coffee shop or in some type of restaurant. This is funny because it takes such a huge contraption and probably a lot of effort just too get coffee. Now a days we have single K cups to make things personal and other small more convenient machines. I was also wondering how heavy that thing is and how much it cost. It is just interesting to think how far we have come along since those times and how almost selfish we are and how we want things so personalized and convenient. .

famous quotes blog

"He was an inch, perhaps two, under six feet, powerfully built, and he advanced straight at me with a slight stoop of the shoulders, head forward, and a fixed from-under stare which made me think of a charging bull." - Lord Jim by Joseph Conrad
I soon found out that it was Quasimodo the hunchback of Notre Dame. he charged me because i was talking crap about Notre Dame football but i side stepped him. He let out a loud grunt of disgust. I shouted "look a bird", the oldest trick in the book. He fell for it because of his mental illness. While he was looking left I Kansas city shuffled him like Bruce Willis and he died on the spot. I did not feel bad because he had a harsh life being such a monster so i put him out of his misery. I then mounted my bike and rode off into the mist of the early morning, never looking back. I rode to the near bakery and indulged in some glazed donuts. The rest of my day included yard work and unclogging sinks.

The Surprises in the NFL
1) I think the Lions will not succeed in the playoffs despite their great record so far. Like McGuire said this was the "first time since 1956" that they started off so well. How could a team that has been bad for years just come in and dominate a league like he claims.
2) The Eagles are indeed a nightmare. He is accurate in saying they had "The best off season of any NFL team". They acquired many great players but have failed to meet the expectations of most fans. They started off the season 1-4 and look like a mess.
3)Wes Welker is a very good wide receiver and if he continues at the same "pace he would break Jerry Rices record for receiving yards in a season". But he gets way to much credit for this statistic because behind all those yards is a quarterback. Tom Brady the quarterback for the New England Patriots is one of the best in the league and is playing phenomenally. Without an amazing quarterback such as Brady no one could post numbers like that.
4)To break Dan Marino's record is an amazing feat. I think there is a large possibility that it could actually happen because to break the record they would have "to average 318 yards a game to break it.  Right now 5 Quarterbacks are ahead of that pace". The chances that at least one quarterback will do that are pretty great.
5)Victor Cruz is deffinetly not the "fate of the New York Giants" as Mark McGuire said. It is impossible for a receiver to make that much impact on a team that 1, just has bad defense and 2, Has a a bad offensive line. Just him alone will not do enough, the Giants need to step up their game all together. But he has certainly been "a one-man highlight reel".
6)The Bills are due for a great season. "a max-effort team that played hard enough to win" is a great statement because they give their all in every game even if they come up short. If they do beat the Giants this week it will be a big statement and they will join the elite teams in the AFC.
7)Peyton Manning is "The most valuble player in the history of sports". He has proved this since he was signed by the Colts. He conducted the offense like an orchestra and has been the heart of the team. He has lead them to many victories and Superbowl wins.
8)The jets are not "The Super Bowl contender coach Rex Ryan promised". They are not a bad team but do not have the intensity and pizzazz of a Superbowl winning team.
9)Cam Newton was speculated coming into this years season but has surprisingly showed amazing talent. Newton has "become one of the most exciting players in the NFL" for sure. He puts up astonishing numbers each week and carries his team to victory.
10)The Oakland Raiders are "dangerous" and have an explosive run game with Darren McFadden. The San Francisco 49ers "are 4-1 and  are clearly the best team in the NFC west". They are better than they have been in past years but have not played very impressive teams so far.

This article is about a linebacker from Burnt Hills who is very talented and tries very hard to suceed. He has over 40 starts on varsity which is crazy and i don't know how that is possible but apparently he has accomplished it. He works hard and studies film and is dedicated to what he does. The article says "he hired a service called RecruitZone to send out highlight tapes" to colleges that he is interested to play for. He came from Scotia after he was a freshman and played football and excelled at it. He gets inspiration from "pro linebackers...Patrick Willis Ray Lewis. He also studies film and dissects opposing teams offenses so he knows what to do come game time. Wydronkowski is dedicated to football and improves himself any way he can by also listening to coachs and helps improve the team by giving motivation. He is a big leader on the team now that he is a senior and he actions set a good example for other players on the team.

Opinion blog prompt # 9 breakfast is the most important meal of the day

i think breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it the longest gap between meals. You go to sleep and do not eat until lunch you will be running on empty. It gives your body fuel for the day. You need to be attentive in class so if you eat breakfast you can pay attention.

112 scary encounter with my barber. I grew my hair out very long for over a year and went to my barber. My barber was located in the middle of Compton. When i sat down in the chair and told him what i wanted done to my hair he knocked me out. I woke up in a bakery and rushed to the bathroom. When i looked in the mirror i saw my hair and to my disbelief he gave me cornrows. As hard as i tried i could not get them undone. He had put a spell on my hair. When i went to school the next to my surprise all the kids were giving me mad respect. They called me the boss hog of G-land. I was the teflon don of the Dutchmen. Despite my origin and skin color i was given props to the max. I went back to the same barber and he knew that i was grateful. I thanked him for increasing my swagger. He was glad to help me out.

Terracotta
The Hermitage, St. Petersburg

This sculpture looks like the women was stabbed in the stomach and is in utter disbelief of the events that have unfolded. She has a worried look in her eye and looks pretty funny that is why i chose this piece of art. I once sculpted in art class and at the home of Aaron Castellana. It was decently fun but i don't think i could ever sculpt this well. This sculpture reminds me of a time when i was young. I used to frolic in the meadows of east Albania where i would heard my sheep. Then one day out in the fields I stumbled across what looked to be an ancient piece of pottery. It indeed was an artifact from an ancient civilization. I sold it to a museum for some dough.

your deeds speak so much louder than anothers words

My quote is your deeds speak so much louder than another's words. I think this means that saying your going to do something means one thing but actually doing it means a lot more. People talk about helping and changing the environment but they never actually make an effort to do anything. Chuck Norris doesn't say anything but does everything. He doesn't have to talk because everyone talks for him. This quote also defines the basics of character. The real question would be of course, how much wood could a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood.
