What is your mood like when you wake up in the morning? Do you have any special rituals, such as reading the newspaper while enjoying a cup of coffee, that help you get ready for the responsibilities of the day?

My usual morning ritual is to wake up, rest for about 6 minutes then get up. I then stumble slowly into the bathroom where I turn on the water and wait for it to warm up. I shower, dry off,comb my hair  then get dressed. I pack my bags then go down stairs to eat breakfast. I eat breakfast till 7 then go upstairs brush my teeth and grab a gatorade. I then go to school.

N=new england clam chowder

1 diced onion. I laugh because it makes me tear up as I slice the onion. My mom makes a little joke mocking my tears.

2 table spoons of butter. I peel off the wrapper from the Land o' Lakes butter it slides into the bowl and i ask what is next to my mother. we let the butter and onion cook for a few minutes in a saucepan.

I next stir in 2 cups of water whisking it all together.

4 potatoes are added each cut into little squares they remind me of Saturday mornings when my mother makes home fries. I always dip them in ketchup.

add some salt and pepper for seasoning. The flying pepper makes me sneeze.

I play with the stove nob and turn it up and down. My mom tells me to stop fooling around with the flame so I leave it on low.

I pour in 2 cups of half-and-half this reminds me of my father drinking his morning coffee. He adds half-and-half and a little sugar.

add 2 cups of minced clams. The clams remind me of summer clam bakes with my family.Turn down heat, dont boil, let it cook through and turn off heat then serve hot and enjoy.

It is so rewarding tasting the clam chowder. My family shares some and I grin as I put another spoonful into my mouth.

Behind the masterpiece

I created this painting for my Aunt Mona for her birthday. It is a portrait of her standing outside of our family owned lake house. Often times I paint random pieces just for fun but i put my talents to good use. I got my paint from all natural substances. Like the black from a piece of charcoal and the blue from the oil of a burnt blue jay feather. My aunt is truly not as pudgy but the camera adds 10 pounds.
